Tempranillo Wines
As tempranillo means “early”, we successfully grow this Spanish varietal in the cooler climate of Carlton. Lovely garnet color with scents of smoky paprika, bittersweet chocolate and fresh berries. Juicy acidity brings flavors of sweet spice and cocoa powder with light toasty notes of smoke and a touch of graphite. Barrel aged 24 months in 50% new American Oak Cellar until 2027. 200 Cases
Planted in 2007, this Spanish varietal is estate grown in Carlton. Tempranillo means “early” in Spanish, contributing to the success of ripening. Beautifully rich and full bodied without being too jammy. Hints of spicy white pepper, warm vanilla, and cassis in the smooth tannins. Well balanced with a nice dry finish.

Double Gold winner! Released on “Eclipse Day” Aug 20, 2017. Four of the best best barrels were selected and given extended aging time to create this magical 100% Tempranillo. Velvety smooth tannins and robust fruit notes of raspberry and cocoa that will age out beautifully. Very enjoyable now, save for Eclipse Day on Oct 14, 2023 or cellar til 2027 and beyond. 102 cases.
